Finding the right treatment facility when you are faced with any form of substance abuse can be a daunting task, but an important one all the same. A quality program is important to find so that you give your chances of staying sober to be increased. One way to find the right facility for you is to check with fellow AA members or NA members. Their opinions will be valuable when determining your specific needs for recovery.
Here are some of the following qualities to look for in finding the best program:
- The facility prides their selves on making their patients, and the patient’s sobriety always first. This being ahead of staff conveniences and financial considerations.
- There needs to be a medical approach taken into consideration. Alcoholics/addicts is viewed as a disease. They are sick people that have to get better, not bad or crazy people.
- Take in to consideration if it is considered a detox facility. The individual does not want to go off track between detox and recovery treatment.
- Being strongly connected to AA involvement. That does not been that AA is running the program, but that it is introduced to the patient to give them an option once they are finished in rehab. Any facility that does not encourage this should be really rethought through.
- Make sure you are getting adequate treatment time. Most experts encourage having a minimum of 4 weeks for alcoholism, and six weeks or longer when addicted to drugs or multiple substances.
- One on one therapy is a must to deal with the underlying issues that may have caused the addiction to begin with.
